It was a 1939 purple dot from Columbia and yes they replaced it in '37

X2. That ball was notorious for that. I seem to recall mine had a pleasant aroma too. Did they include a scent in the coverstock like storm does?

Easy way to guarantee you never have to worry about the pin anymore is to have the pin drilled out by putting your thumb hole in that spot.

Have you tried putting your 10lb ball in the pond,, it will float. But the pin will not rise it will drop to the bottom of the ball due to its high dynamics..

Just an optical illusion.  The pin isn't floating, the rest of the ball is sinking.

As a bonus probably will never have to worry about too much snap on the back end either lol.  Thumb hole is truly pin down.
