Has ANYONE thought about this with Mushtare??
« on: June 21, 2006, 05:24:02 AM »
I worked in a bowling alley for 8 months. You could correct your score on the screen. When you got the print off, it would show on the print off that you fixed your score. If he shot ALL these supposable 900's, wouldnt he have gotten a print out? I mean I know if I shot one I would. They could check on printed scores and see if he did.

another thing...

USBC came in to check the bowling center out. Since his dad has access to it, couldnt his dad have come in AFTER hours to clean the place up to cover his sons mess and to make sure things would get approved??

I have been thinking about these two ALOT. Theres so many post and so many things posted its alot of time to go threw and read. If someone has already brought this up, I appologize.

I am certain that when they went out there on June 3, 2006 they checked into how the scoring system works...how to override it. Can one tell if has been overriden etc.

Who saw the scores being posted...who was behind counter...did they see scores going up ...interviewed etc.  These are not total idiots.

Last week one of the lanes in open play was scoring every shot as a strike. I would be willing to bet that is what happend.

What Leftyinthezone said.  It's unfortunate, but unavoidable.

All scoring machines should be USBC approved before letting them open to the public. Especially these programs that are ran by a centralized computer program.

Given this statement from LeftyInthe Zone

"As noted, USBC did attempt to see if the scoring system could be altered, and were satisified the scores were legit."

Why is it unfortunate?!

I've talked to many casual bowlers and golfers.

The bowlers response "Good for him...I'd wondered why it hadn't been done before".

Golfers response.  "Sort of like having a couple of 59s".  Don't think Tiger Woods doesn't have more than the 58 you may have heard about!  Don't think there aren't a lot of pro golfers who haven't broken 60 when playing their occassional round on a Regular course!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS in waterskiing they've basically lowered the record to the point that only a 7 foot skiier will break it!  ALways on smooth water...never on the sometimes rough conditions they sometimes face in tournament skiing!  Nobody is upset!

Having been a head mechanic for many years, I can tell you that based on bios version of Brunswick scorers, you can change scores without it noting the changes on the print outs at the scorer or at the desk. As well, there are ways to circumvent the scoring all together and type in your scores.

The math just does not add up.  The ABC/USBC has approved nine 900 series in nine years.  Now we have an individual who has supposedly bowled two in three months.  Common sense tells you this is not legitimate.  I have seen tape of this kid, and he has talent, but two 900's in two months, come on.  Just my take on the situation.

With ANY machine, if you do not cycle the pinsetters and throw a shot while keeping score it will register EVERYTHING as a strike.  Even if you throw it in the gutter.  The cameras are picking up "no pins on deck" and is relaying an "X" back to the CPU.  I thought everyone knew that.  Kinda makes you think....

Exactly right, if you have someone in the back to work the machines I can throw a strike every frame all day long.

I think the other people are right luckylefty you need to change your screen name to IloveMushtare or something.
