Have to raise the BS flag on this story
« on: June 06, 2004, 11:40:40 AM »
I was reading through an old copy of BJ tonight.  I ran across this article about sport bowling.  It discuss this special league in Tenn.  The was a guy in the league, who will call George, who was a former touring player.  He claims to have averaged 210 on THS will a rubber ball.  Come on, unless we are talking about a fairly dry condition, I can't see how the ball would ever roll enough to carry.  The kicker is he wasn't even the highest average bowler on the sport condition.  I think if you could average 210 with a rubber ball on THS, you should average will over 200, which he didn't, on a sport condition.

Very true.

Please allow me to rephrase, I don't think it would be possible on THS here.  It is way to heavy for that.  I know they are running a bunch of oil in the middle.  Sometimes it carries down and would greatly affect a rubber ball.  I have seen one guy hook a rubber ball on this condition.  It was after 3 games and he was way, way outside cranking it.

The other house I bowl in, you could probably hook a wood ball.  Of course, that depends on the way pattern the lane machine puts out.  I worked there for two years, I know something is wrong with that machine.
