Have you bowled a 300 you were ASHAMED of?
« on: March 07, 2005, 12:27:18 AM »
My last couple were pretty pathetic.  No runaway crossovers or anything, just some really bad shots that should have never made it to the pocket but did.

I remember shaking people's hands and them telling my congrats... and I was like, "Did you see the other nine frames?"  Haha!  Oh well.

So have you ever bowled a perfect game that you were ashamed of?

Yes, last Tuesday night.  Pulled about 5 shots that should have gone high but because of the heavy oil in the middle, the ball held enough to trip out the 6 (as a Lefty).  10th was pulled and I got a break.  At least the last two were somewhat close to what I was looking at.  All in all, it was a joke and one I'd just soon forget.

My first 1 was a joke. 3 EXCELLENT BREAKS but I took them all. 12th ball Jersey.

Also had the wonderful last 2 shots in my 20th of jersey on 11 and caved the bucket on 12. Brutal to watch.

In 2000, my first year back after a 10 year layoff,I tripped a 2 pin on the 12th shot. As I remember, I missed it off my hand.. that year, I was still hitting up and was always getting over under. I was so embarrased...as son saw me do it.

I look at it this way.  Of the 300's I have I know I've had some luck, missed 2-3 boards here, pulled one and carried....but, how many 299's do you have where you threw a perfect (or you thought or felt it was perfect) shot and left something.

I have never watched 12 perfect shots to reach 300,  there is always at least one lucky break in there somwhere, not saying it doesn't happen just the ones I have witnessed there was always a pull or sometihng that they got away with.  I think the people who throw twelve perfect looking super clean released shots are the ones who leave a pin somewhere and shouldn't. I don't care if I throw 12 brooklyns in a row if I ever throw 300 I will cherish it.

Or 279 or (heaven forbid) 267?  A guy I bowl with has many, many games like that where shots that were a little bad carried and other shots that looked great left a 10 pin.
