Midstate is not far away at all. Go north on Rt. 1 to Rt. 18, then go south on Rt. 18 for a couple of miles. Make ju-handle u-turn on Rt 18 whenyo usee the sign for the "Mid State Mall"; it's about 1 mile past the NJ Turnpike, which you will pass over (no jokes).
Mid State has new-ish AMF synthetics; they've fixed up the place a little at a time. It's behind a big strip mall, at the back behind a ShopRite supermarket. The outside of Midstate is not as nice as the inside, but it's not shabby.

(Go North on Rt 1 to RT 287/440; go South on Rt 287 (or East on Rt 400, same highway) to Rt 9, then go North on Rt 9.

With Carolier being occupied bythe US Open, not sure how busy MidState will be during that time, since it is the closest alternative. Usually getting a pair to practice on during the middle of the day is no problem.
