Aggravated-(E-bay)
« on: October 16, 2009, 04:10:42 AM »
Last week ago, I bid on a ball. It isn't a ball with a high demand, but was something I wanted to try.

Nobody else bid on the ball at all, until the very last moment (which isn't unusual), and beat my bid by a few cents. No problem yet, as this happens pretty often.

Thing is, I got an e-bay message last night telling me that the item has been re-listed. I checked it out and it is the same ball with the same specs at the same starting price. I already got another one ( from a different seller for a few bucks more), so I'm fine for equipment, just aggravated that it seems a seller would wait till the last moment and bid their own item up, then relist it later because it didn't sell.

P.S. NO, it did not have a minimum price set, and bidding started at $15.00. If they wanted a minimum price set, they should have listed it for what they wanted or set a minimum acceptable price. not outbid everyone at the last moment, then relist it later.

Sorry for the rant, just aggravated at stupid people. I won't bother bidding on this sellers stuff ever again.

I've had this happen on more than one occasion. Then I'll get an email for a "special offer" to purchase the ball at the "buy it now" price..lol..

Just to add some of my experiences as an E-Bay seller.

---I only ship to the lower 48, I have occasionally had bidders win from Canada/Mexico/Alaska. In this circumstance I either relist the item or offer a second chance opportunity to the second high bidder.

---I do not accept personal checks or money orders, paypal only. I have had winners who want to send me a check AFTER they win an auction. Back to relisting or second chance opportunity.

---Finally, rarely, someone just refuses to communicate or pay. In that case I once again relist or offer a second chance opportunity.

I've never bid (or had someone bid) my items up sometimes I get less for an item than I'd like and sometimes I get more. That's just how it goes.

Just wanted to add my two cents of circumstances that could have happened with the seller...maybe he is not honest, maybe he had a circumstance as I described above. I don't know, but unless you've had a negative experience with this guy before (or he has bad feedback), I would give him the benefit of the doubt on the circumstances. Besides, you could always just ask him.....

You guys make good points, especially you golfnut. Thing is, I am from Texas, use paypal, and would gladly have paid a few bucks more for the ball IF I had been contacted by the seller when, and if, the first buyer backed out of the deal.

I ended up giving about $25 more for the one I got ( and yes, should have upped my bid on the original listing, just forgot to before leaving town), and would've been happy to spend my money in one place as soon as another.

Guess the seller had no real way of knowing that though.  <sigh> Oh well............

Now I don't know the exact details, and I'm not defending the guy..  I'm assuming this auction was for a NIB ball, if that is true it is possible that he had more then one with the exact same SPECs and just reused the same PIC rather then taking another...

Little over a week ago I got my Lane#1 Massacre Red Death order in and I got several balls with the exact same SPECs, and it happens all the time..

I've sold quite a few balls on ebay, and there have been times after three invoices sent that the winner never made contact, so I have re-listed siad item.

E-bay should take action against these bidders more than on the sellers that may take an extra day to ship something, they already hold up the money until after shipment is delivered.
