Several friends often have this trouble later during the night or when they're tired.
Many times, on the step where they get the ball into motion (I don't dare say, "pushaway" any more or someone will rip me a new one!
) they're either not getting the ball in motion or their tiredness makes them drop the ball towards their feet, instead getting it forward and in front of their shoulder. So the armswing/ball is behind their feet, with respect to their timing.
Another strong possibility is you're not putting the ball into motion towards your line (Your targeting line is the line through 3 points: your laydown point, your target on the lane, usually near the arrows and your breakpoint.) Combined with getting the ball in motion at the right time, this could easily be the cause of the ball going inside of where you intended.
