well, if its heavy and flat, without being stripped, the AMB Centaur Particle is the way to go.

If u are just looking for heavier patterns, Ogre Particle is definitely the way to go.

Um, if you can find one. A large rock from outside. This thing will roll on any condition. There is no such thing as to much oil. The only problem is sometimes they are hard to find with the right legal dimensions in size and weight. Yet if you do, you wont have a better oiler.

LOL sorry I had to, however I do agree if it is super long and flat with a high oil ratio go with teh AMB Centar Particle. If it is just a typical Heavy shot go with the Ogre Particle. Maybe a Lanemasters Sting as a close third.

The AMB Centaur is probably the best OOB oiler you can get - hurry up, they semm to be discontinued. The Ogre Particle should also be a candidate, although with a weaker core.

Other alternatives that come to my mind are Brunswick's Mammoth (also discontinued, but some might still be around in pro shops for small money) and the low RG/heavy load particles from Lanemasters. I recently got a cheap NS2, and it is a very fine oil ball, despite its sheen surface. Very effective. I guess the AP2, a Bing Bang or Terminator will also fill the bill, but I am not a LM expert to make a true recommendation.

Thanks for the lead-in, DIzzy!
Of those the Legends NS2, with its stock light sheen removed, is the best candidate. Sanded to the level of the AMB particle, say 1000 grit Abralon, it will handle anything you can throw at it. It has a heavy load of diamond particles.

Scott,

What surface does your NS2 have?
If it has the stock, I'd love to know how that compares to the Ogre's 1000 Abralon. If you could, then sand the NS2 to that grit level and also compare them. I think it would be educational.
(Valentino's Resurrection can restore the NS2 to the stock surface quickly, if you want.)

Yes, I am amazed how much traction the NS2 has despite its shiny OOB surface. With a matte finish, like 1.000 Abralon or even more, the NS2 should hook at your feet, from the OOB surface there is still a lot of room for total flood, oil swamps or unstripped back ends. It is not the super-hooker, but builds up the traction you expect and want from a particle ball. Sweet!

Jeff,

It has an OOB finish on it now.  I have never really played with it's surface much.  Picked up a little lane shine over time.  I keep it for medium-heavy sport patterns.

I have used Resurrection once now and have noticed with my Vertex spinner that has one speed which is relatively high that I have to be careful now to spin to long and put to much pressure or it takes the surface to a shiny surface more than 800 grit matte.

I'll give you guys the comparison as get it....... I'll keep the Ogre Particle at OOB surface.  I won't change it as it's for a heavier pattern and that's what I will buy it for.

Scott,

Re: Resurrection.
Yes, don't leave it on too long and don't use too much pressure. To prevent that I'll usually sand the ball to 500 or 600 grit and then apply a light coat of Resurrection, even though it will take almost anything to 800 grit plus a light shine.

A 2nd coat by hand usually finishes it off nicely, if too much pressure puts too much shine on the ball.
