You'll have to give a lot more details before we can help you.  If the Raging Inferno you threw had "no length", you were not throwing on heavy oil.  Nothing hooks in oil.

How do you throw: rev rate? high, med, low?    Ball speed fast or slow?
What are you throwing now and how is it drilled?  Is it hooking to much, too little, too eraly, too late...
Tell us anything about the lanes: wood, synthetic, guardian overlay...  Do you know anything about the oil pattern, length, or volume?
