Ok, this is a first for me. In my company bowling league on Wednesday's, there is some POS nobody that averages like 100-110 making fun of my bowling form. Ok, keep in mind I don't have time for fighting because I am training for both MMA and bodybuilding. Basically I am not trying to get in a fight and wind up in prison for some stupid crap.

But this is what happened this past week. Keep in mind I have been bowling since I was 5 and bowled on my college bowling team.

During practice before league started, I threw my ball and he is in the next lane going "haha nice form bringing your leg out and all like a girl" or something. (Basically my form is like Pete Weber - stand left of center, high backswing, kick my right leg to the left behind my front leg, etc. - basic high rev form). So I am like "haha". This has never happened before. Any real bowler knows my form is pretty damn good and my average speaks for itself. So he keeps going on during practice as I throw another shot. 2 balls and 2 strikes I might add. He then says, "yeah that is over the top, you're such a nerd!". Ok, I am getting pretty pissed now. Keep in mind we are all working in the same damn company and all engineers. It is like a white guy calling another guy white in a condenscending way. I mean how do you respond to that?

So I keep bowling throughout practice and this @$$hole keeps talking s***. I am now trying to ignore him. During league play about 2 more times he kept talking s***. He isn't even bowling against my team. I just start ignoring him and others are looking around and going WTF. They all know me as being in the top 3 for the past 3 years straight with 2 league championships in a row.

So Thursday - YESTERDAY. I see this POS at work right when I arrive. And he goes in again about this s***! I was in the vending area and just walked by ignoring him.

WHAT A F***ER!!!!

What do I do?

Artimust has it nailed, but because he works where you do you have to be careful. You might want to think about taping him the next time you bowl next to him and he starts his crap, just in case you need it for the future. I would try and find out if this guy is just an idiot or a nut job cause each one has to be handled differently.

Ignore him and do not pay attention to him. Let him know that he does not exist. Now. If he comes over to you and raises his hand towards you. Then give him a quick straight hit towards his throat and a swift kick to his knee. He won't be able to talk or bowl for what is left of the year. It works. Just let him do the first move with witnesses. But just ignore him like a piece of trash on the road and do not try to make him your friend. He will eventually go away.

If he will not bet you, call him a pu!!! laugh in his face, and keep having fun. Do it everytime he opens his mouth. He'll get tired or getting embarrased and find someone else to screw with.

Lay some money down IN FRONT OF EVERYONE ELSE TO SEE and tell him to put up or shut up. He won't have the brains to decline, so it's easy money, or if he does decline then he shows his true colors to everyone else. Believe me, he won't like being the subject of his own crap.

Never know, he could be hustling you. Might be a lefthanded second coming of Steve Cook and can't bowl right handed and is purposely trying to look like S***. Entice you into wanting to put up big bucks figuring you are sure you can kick his tail. All of a sudden he goes to the car and brings in a 6 ball roller and gets on the lane and starts to wheel it at 18 mph and hooking the lane, throwing pins all over. Maybe going a little extreme here but I've seen it happen. Last night we had a guy shoot 140 his first game throwing it straight up about 15 and we trounced his team like by 200 sticks. All of a sudden the next two games he is throwing up 5 and hooking it and throws 240 something and 250 something. We all where like, OK, where did that come from?
You just never know...

Also, what you decide to do should depend on your relative status at work. Are either of you higher ranking than the other? I mean, manager/supervisor to worker bee or senior engineer to junior engineer or some other work relationship?

Depending upon your work situation, you may want to cool your heels and simply ignore this jerk-off. As a former engineer, engineering manager and VP of engineering for many years, I can tell you that outside activities which affect your working relationships can screw up your job, big time.

Also, it might depend upon how the other guy is thought of at work. He might be the departments "Golden Boy" and have his name on all the companies patents, be the President's son-in-law or something.

Give this relationship some thought before you punch this idiot out!

The physical responses are a horrible idea, but theres no reason you can't bowl this idiot for 200 a game, shoot 700 for 3 games, and make a quick 600.

He ranks above me - mostly because of the way engineering is unlike most jobs where seniority rules and not performance. Currently in school getting my MBA to get out of engineering because I can't stand that.

I agree outside activities do affect in-job things. There are lots of favorites seen within the group and company in general. It is such a joke and it did make me mad, but with going to school, I will be out within 2 years. Everyone is underpaid and bonus's are a joke.

I just gotta see what happens next week.

LOL. I am going to take THEICEMAN's advice and see whats up with this guy next week. He had to have bowled that 61 on purpose. The last time I bowled anything under 90 is when I was like 5 years old LOL. I would hate to bet him and then wind up getting a few splits and end up with a 170 game and he gets lucky and strikes like 5 in a row for a 200 game.

And some bowler did that last week. Worst delivery ever (except I don't point it out and mock people) where he just slides the ball down the lane (bad rotation - almost completely perpendicular to the pins) and it doesn't hook and that guy bowled like 2 140's and a 240 where he got 7 in a row. I was just watching and thinking 'wtf'.

I had this same problem last year in league but it was not with heckling..

we were rolling off with his team for the trophy. but first we had a rollof on a saturday with a diffrent team for the second half winner.

well somehow he showes up and starts to practice next to us dirring our rolloff.. ansy starts in on you better bring your a game to cover our sandbagging the second half...

Let me state that no one in the league likes this guy at all he is a prick..

so on sweeper night for the trophy everyone in the league makes it a point to come over and tell us to kill this guy.. (he was upset..)

I am cleanup and so is he. i procede to whip his but by 100 the first game shot 279 and 65 the second game.. He went into his little corner and cried like a baby..
