heel or sole first?
« on: February 21, 2004, 08:55:12 PM »
ok! I was a coaching day today and the coach asked me what I felt was week in my game. I feel that I have some problems maintaining my balance at the foul line when I am following through so we looked at a bit of video and he noticed that on my last step I really reach out with my left leg being right handed. Also instead of sliding in with my heel and sole on the ground together I come in heel first then slide a further 6 inches or so as I'm releasing the ball. I am a power player and I feel that I need to do this to generate the solid position to get the leverage to generate the release I have. Basically I'm wondering if it is wrong to come in heel first or should I be now trying to slide in to the foul line even though it will impact on my power game?

Yeah rudy plants his foot as well,I think Michael Haugen jnr and tommy delutz do something similar as well. Just wondering if seeing its not really the norm is it worth trying to learn to slide in more or just stick with my final step as It is now? After all if it is not really broke why fix it?
