Hi All,
I wrote a post on the wrong board. I think this is right, I wrote on Global first and then learned that its actually equipment, so I am writing here now for help.
Anyway, I'm a 184 avg., I use a Stinger 2 which I bought 10 yrs ago. I'm looking to buy a new ball.
I throw a straight ball on the second arrow thats curves into the pocket at the backend.
Any suggestions for a new ball? I'd like to take my game to another level
but basically I wanted a replacement ball for my old one as its so old.
Thanks for any help,
Perry

You want to stay with Ebonite, or does it matter?

It's not a bad idea to learn to play a different part of the lane. Not every condition you will experience will allow you to just play in the track area of the lane.
IOW, pick a ball that will challenge you to adapt your game just a little...

You can go with any numnber if mid level performance balls. The Roto Nomads, the Storm HyRoad, the Ebonite Lanebreaker. Lots of choices. YOu can still get the Black Widow Pearl, which is going ot be a classic whenever it gets discontinued. I love my Hammer Hot Sauce.

It depends on the amount of oil you are seeing as well. With that said I would try maybe a Cherry Vibe or Columbia Freeze. It doesn't sound to me like you would need a hook monster. If you are able to use the Stinger 2 with some success either of those balls would be a nice step up and both are probably the best bang for your buck our there.

You're definitely a Freeze candidate. A very good ball at it's price.

There are many choices these days, but I would recommend not jumping too much at one time. The Stinger 2 that you speak of was a mid level ball (in its day), and I think I would stay with mid level stuff, especially if the old Stinger is still somewhat working.
Keeping the game simpler can also make it more fun, so I don't suggest any LARGE change. That being said, a ball or two do come to mind.
One of them is the HAMMER ONYX VIBE. It has a core construction SIMILAR to the old Stinger, but has a more modern cover on it that should allow it to be versatile enough to fit your game, depending on the amount of oil your house puts out. Another one is the Global 900 LUNATIC. Again, a ball with normal two piece construction and a pretty good cover on it.
The truth is, there are MANY balls out there that would fill your needs, made by practically every maker from A.M.F. to Visionary.
If you could give us a little to go on, like manufacturer preference, performance level, or even just a color you like, I'm sure there is SOMEBODY here who can help you once they have more info.
