WOW... what a day
« on: November 14, 2009, 10:08:24 AM »
Sorry to toot my own horn but what a day I had. This comes on the heals to almost quitting because I could not get out of my balls and despite physically bowling well (averaging over 225 in 3 leagues) I was leaving on average 10 - 10 pins per night.

Any, two weeks ago I am so frustrated I decide a last ditch effort to return to my old grip from 20 years ago. The first night out, I shoot 781 (choaked for 800). The other sets were 718 and 690. This brings me to today, bowling in City tournament.

High for singles was a meager 755. I shot, 770 and it held up. Then, I bowled double with my daughter and shot, 817 and we posted a city mixed doubles score of 1539 and won the doubles.

Additionally, my daugher bowled singles and shot 691 with 103 pins handicap and ended up with 794 (which finished 2nd in singles handicap.).

I ended up bowling 12 games today and averaged over 250 for the day with a pair of 690's in the middle of the above scores.

Its like a pressure valve being released to have some carry. And it all was my grip.

Congratulations, very nice shooting!  Good choice on trying your old grip.  Congratulations to your daughter, nice shooting for her, too!

lsf,

There might be some merit to what you said!!!

directdrill,

Thanks... my daughter shot her 1st ever (sanctioned)700 series earlier this year. She bowled well until the 5th game... then missed 4 single pins spares and shot 160. But she rebounded with a 24x last game. I know she is thrilled as this is her 1st year of bowling after not bowling for 3 years. Not to mention she will be 21 in 3 day!!!.

i just know that when im bowling my best is when im mentally in a good spot, it just seems that when im not there mentally corner pins stick around more, it might not even be that i leave more its just that when i do leave them they stick with me longer and then i start to miss them and scores drop drastically. anyway great shooting i wish i could shot half of that right now.

Reality set in today... I banged the pocket at the team house..  648 and 650, some many 9 counts,... we missed taking the scratch team by 15 pins with 3475

still i ended up with 2118 all events which took over the lead but not sure if it won.
