Best way to Measure PAP?
« on: January 28, 2004, 09:39:13 PM »
Which way is more accurate to measure your PAP, the first oil ring or a piece of tape? I would think that a piece of tape that is adjusted by another person standing as an observer would be more accurate since that can be seen even while the ball is in the air if you loft the ball. I need to find my new PAP with my new release that I am using now.

Thanks,
Kalannar

I've always used tape - use the first oil ring to estimate where the tape goes, then adjust until you have it.

Good luck

Not to hijack this thread and get off topic, but what do you do when you can't pin point your first oil ring?

I ask because my lowest flaring ball (plastic) still has a good inch and a half of flare on it. Normally I would be able to tell which oil ring was the first, but the oil just smears across the polyester coverstock and makes it all but impossible to tell.

If you are right handed I think it is the right most
ring.

Jeff,

Use the side of the smear that is closest to your thumb and finger holes to get a piece of tape close and then throw the ball again until it doesn't move.

2EZ,

Thanks. I was hoping this way was more accurate since I have a hard time seeing the rings on everything that I own right now. Pearls don't show oil rings that well.

Okay, I will try this tonight, thanks Kalannar and Livespive.
