Help drilling up a partice/proactive
« on: September 01, 2004, 03:21:35 PM »
I have gotten some help from another topic I wrote, but i would like to see in a more general sense, what people use/drill to keep their particle/proactive stuff from "burning up".  I was interested cause I was given an almost brand new pro azure(like 3 games on wood) and I wanted to make it get down the lane a little longer (ok a lot) possible enough to make it a house shot ball.  I know that is not what the ball was made for but I really don't have the funds to buy a ball I could use for this, so I am using the resources that I have.  So if anyone has any ideas or experiences of trying to make a particle not burn up, it would be greatly appreciated

Thanx

Burning up, like all of the energy is getting used in the front half of the lane, not enough oil for me to use the ball, that is why I am asking bout a drilling or method of preperation to get the ball to get down the lane.  A better explanation would be from a post from earlier think in the topic it said particles 101

Slimey,
If your Particle is burning up, you either have slow speed and/or dry heads(aka WRONG condition).  Now you can always try to polish the ball, this might give you a tad more length.  But you still may experience burn out if the backends are dry.  My suggestion is, use it for the shot that its intended, oil. Your problem isn't drill, its coverstock.  No matter how you punch it up, if your on the wrong condition its gonna burn out.

Thanx for the help, sorry I did not explain my self more, I already have a ball for the oil I am very comfortable with, either my x factor or my player, but I really struggle to use either ball on a medium condition and thats where the azure comes in, like I said I know I am stretching to use this ball on medium but no money for a ball really puts me in a bind for the season coming up. Thanx again

Hey Slimey,

The Zone Pro Azure was the heaviest load particle of it's time ETX-5.  The gaps on the surface are extremely large.  They even printed that this level particle was very difficult to shine.  I did however have some success with fining it and then coating it with something called Tec-Shine from Columbia.  It's a very thick paste (like caulk) that covers or seals the ball and then you can place polish over it.  This was about the only way I was able to shine it up...hope this helps.

Unless I'm missing something, it looks like you're approaching it backwards.  The Pro Azure, as others have said, is a high load particle ball made for early roll, perfect for heavy oil.  The Player and original X Factor are not for heavy oil.  Save the Pro Azure for when the the Player and X Factor won't wrinkle.  Trying to turn the Pro Azure into a medium oil ball is going against it's nature.  Even if you were successful, you would then have 3 balls that worked on the same condition.
