Hey guys. I need some help here. the summer league I am bowling on is laying down the shot from the 2001 collegiate nationals (or thats what they are telling us). Which is fine, because I wanted to bowl on a tough shot to hopefully improve my accuracy a bit.
What I know about it is that it is 37' and very flat and very heavy oil. The backend are stripped and absolutely fly for the first 2 games. The last 2 games the carry down is ridiculous. The shot plays tighter than the Storm Sport did on fresh lanes in Knoxville.
I am just wondering how I should approach this shot. Deep inside works the first game or 2 until the oil carries down, and then it turns into the most over/under reaction imaginable.
Straight up anything from 7 - 12 is unplayable as even urethane balls cross over. Up the twig and off the corner seem to work OK, but the shot moves somewhere unknown as the oil carries down more.
We are now 5 weeks into the league and no one has broke 800 (4-game league) and I think the high game is right around 230 and some guys do not have a game over 200. And everyone in the league has a book avg over 200 and most over 210. 3 of the guys finished in the top 150 at ABCs in all-events, so they aren't house bowlers either.
This house has the worst carrydown I have ever seen, and the more oil they use the worse it gets. It is even a singles league, with 1 guy a lane and the oil still moves way too much. I am looking for something, maybe a ball suggestion, maybe a hand position, maybe a line suggestion. Anything from someone who has bowled on this shot or one similar, where you literally get no boards of area. To make matters worse carry is aweful too as they just put in all new Amflite II pins. Once again any help or ideas are appreciated
