Help Lowering Track
« on: October 30, 2005, 10:18:22 AM »
The more I bowl in my home house the more I see the need to get rid of the heavy roll I develop on the ball.

Guys who are able to throw an up the boards shot can use an aggressive ball because they have la ow, almost spinner track.

ANy suggestions?

I have a low track, to low. Almost 2" from tumb edge. My problem is that I turn my tumb to the left before it have come out of the hole.
Getting a low track only works on lanes with lesser oil. On heavy stuff that release is not good. I´m trying to get rid of my low track so i can use the dynamic of the core better. If you have a high track, stick with it. Its better IMO.

I've noticed the same thing.  If I "push" with my thumb to the ring-finger side of the hole (right side of the hole, but actually pushing to the left), I get more tilt, while if I push to the other side I get less tilt.  Something I'll be experimenting with in the upcoming weeks.

Cubsfan....currently use 1/8 right and 1/16 forward.

I do know that if I go anymore left the track does creep up almost to the point of hitting the holes.

Doug--IMO......you have to get your thumb out earlier which with forward thumb pitch is harder to do.  Ball hangs on fingers longer on release lowers my track.  I come around ball sooner.  My PAP is 4 7/8 over and 1/2 up.  What is yours?

5-1/4 right up 1/2.....

If I can get a little more axis tilt it would be great. I need to expand my repetoire to help me when the lanes start to dry out and I'd like to stick with a more aggressive ball to get through the carrydown.

kotm suggested a Bruns Navy Fuze to me last year Doug on carry down and this ball works well for me.  Can get the ball to lope with it's high Rg keep it 800 grit sheen finish.  Laid out stacked leverage 3 3/8 max.

Doug
I struggled for 2 years to lower my track which was right on the edge of my thumb. I tried all sorts of things and nothing seemed to work and then one day it just happened.
For me it is strictly a matter of keeping my hand and arm very loose along with keeping my hand more inside the ball to where I feel a little extra pressure on my index finger until about the time that the ball is passing my push off knee. This keeps my thumb more locked in which allows me to have zero grip pressure and when I start the turn my thumb just explodes out of the hole. This did raise another issue though if I start my turn to quickly I loose it at the bottom a little and it hurts my revs a bit along with an even lower track.
Something that I find to be odd is that my track stays about the same spot in relation to my fingers and only moves away from the thumb.
I accomplished my goal of getting my track away from my thumb 1/2" though so I don't mind having to deal with the occasional miss hit at the bottom when I am using this release.
I don't think that more right lateral in your thumb will help as someone suggested since as you add right lateral you have to turn the ball a bit farther before your thumb will want to come out naturally. Slightly left of ideal causes your thumb to want to exit earlier.
This is due to the fact that the back of most everyones thumb is near 45° to the bridge line so left is in affect reverse and left, while right is forward and right.
I actually converted my pitches to a single pitch and place the ball at a pretetermined angle to achieve the proper pitch with only left or forward depending on which way I rotate the ball.
Yours translate to .140 at 63° to the bridgeline.
Pic for explanation.

Sorry for the run on, I must be bored.
