if you want to keep playing down and in then yes because the higher RG will essentially delay the hook which would be a good thing since your playing close to the dry

Not always true.  If you have high ball speed high RG can be a problem.

Smash has a good point. You also want to look at lower differential balls the lighter the volume as down and in bowlers don't have to cross alot of boards.

As people have already begun to tell you, this and most other truisms in bowling are true for the 51% majority at best.

So every time, your pro shop or driller or coach or a friend or the best bowler in the county tells you, "XXXX is always true in bowling/drilling/balls/whatever", realize that is probably "always" true for 51 out of 100 bowlers, if you're lucky.

RG and Differential has a lot to do with it but for me, it's more about the cover. I will throw to fast, from time to time and a pearl just blows through the breakpoint, or the point I am trying to hit anyway.

BTW, I'm probably part of the 49% that many 'rules' don't apply to as well.

 UNEQUIVICALLY NO!

ANY bowler, regardless of preffered shot area, will match up differently with different pieces of equipment.  Some bowlers will much prefer the higher RG stuff, some will not.

While higher RG rating tend to add length to a balls characteristics, for me it makes them react in a "snappier" fashion than the lower RG balls do, and vice-versa.

A lot will depend on the condition that you personally bowl on ( whether you NEED a snappier finishing ball or not), and your bowling technique ( whether your release tends to MAKE the ball snappy to begin with ).

Here is a great example from my own personal experience.  A good friend that I bowled with had a very high RG ball that he hated, while I had a lower RG ball that I did not like. I observed one night that we should just trade balls because we each had what the other needed, so we traded balls and re-drilled them.

The following week, I shot 300-775 with the high RG ball I got from him. The week after that, he shot 300-760 with the low RG ball he got from me.
