This is from someone that is in the business of sliding correctly and has owned 2 pair of Lind's Classics over the years.  Great shoe but there is a break in period  where you will not slide hardly at all until you get the stock slide surface broken in.  There are many people here that use our product for sliding.  You might ask some opinions.  Either shoe is a quality shoe.  The Dexter tends to be more comfortable the Lind's more durable and last longer.  I', waiting to test the new Etonics ESL Classics when they become available.  Style of the shoe looks about the same.

bigmacc -- If your current shoes are a good quality, take Smash49's advice and try the Bowler's Slide Sock.  I recently began using one and love it.  I slide the same every time (have only used it in my home center so far, so can't give first hand experience on other approach conditions).  At roughly $12 you can't go wrong.  --  JohnP

I would echo the two suggestions above. The bowlers slide sock, combined with the red dexter heel, lets me slide through about anything.

guys thanks for the imput. what is really killing me is one frame i will stick and the next i will slide. it s hard to stay in a shot if you don t know what s going to happen. the shoes are in great shape. what i guess i am asking is dexters really sensitive to humidity and such, before i had dexters i never had a problem but those shoes wore out.

The red heel along with some kind of slide sock is what I have to use.
Eliminates the problems of approaches being inconsistent. I use the Slidz-Rite
sock, which is available at bowlingconcepts.com  but there are several slide
socks on the market.  In fact, it's not too hard to convert an old gym sock
for use in a pinch.  Give a sock a try, bigmac, I bet you will be pleased.

I know many bowlers that love the slide sock. My personal experience is a bit different. My game definately starts or ends with a nice smooth slide. Something that I had felt the slide sock would provide. What I didn't expect was the lack of power and leverage that resulted from not being able to perform an aggresive approach. My left foot slipped on every step. I think that has more to do with my game and the power in my legs, many years in the gym, but it happened on any approach I used the sock on. I would still recommend giving it a try, the cost is minimal if it solves your probem and if not you are out a lot less than a highend pair of shoes.

Speaking of shoes. Add my name to the curious about the Etonics. The technology in their intro line is impressive. When they add interchangable soles and heels they may have the best shoe out. The Sales Rep said earlier this year they were not sure when that would happen due to patents by Dexter.

If you have the upper lines of the Etonics in your area available you're lucky and snatch one up.  Only the lower lines are available here.  I called Etonics to see about getting a Black ESL-Classic pair to go to BowlExpo in. They didn't have a pair of the 7's and were taking only 8s and up.  We will be spending most of our time at the Bowling and Billiards Supplies of Dallas booth so everyone come see us.  Let me tell you 8 hours standing in Lind's Classic is hard on the feet.  Plus I think a black bowling shoe and a Liquid Gold Sock looks sharp.

For those that have not tried the Bowler's Slide Sock by SLSM Designs the difference is like between a Ford Pinto and a Mercedes.  Not all Slides Socks are created and perform the same.  Most people that have tried ours will tell you there is a night and day difference between brands.  In fact we have 4 standard models and the top of the line is designed for the SST6 and ABS.  People buy and use them.  David Ozio and the Dexter Reps just shook their heads and told us they don't understand why they do it.  They work!  It's comfort.  That's why most people buy those shoes and the accessories.  As far as I know we are the only company that makes models to accommodate their products.  It's another option and enhancement to those products.

Someone mentioned why not use a tennis shoe and not bother with a bowling shoe.  You probably could but the heal area is where the problem would be.  Almost any slide sock would work with a shoe like that if it fit. The sock would just be limited to it's abilities.

Now back to the Lind's.  I would first recommend checking with your doctor but if you do go that route get a pair of Dr. Scholl's sport insoles.  Take it from someone that wears them 8 hours a day and bowls a lot in them.  It helps the hip  problems I have.  The sole is very aggressive when you first get them and you will need to prepare it before use with a brush and scuff it in the carpet .  Be very careful.  Avcid any kind of powders on them.  That may make the situation worse.

We're being told late July on the upper Etonics.  Bummer!  That's not really that far off.  I still wish I had them now.  There are some new interchangeable sole and heal models we are hearing about.  Another cool note I got today from Brunswick is about a new synthetic approach that has a texture to it that makes it react like wood.  Just another surface to contend with but should be fun to check out.
