it may be long and heavy, but i doubt there is much oil at or outside the 1st arrow...try playing the extreme outside, and maybe it wont seem like its such heavy oil.  use the heavy volume to your advantage, this way the oil over 10 and 15 will help hold your ball to the pocket when you miss left, and your good shots will hopefully find friction on the outside.  you cant be afraid to play near the gutter, and sometimes straighter is greater.

Hmm, why HIGH RG on long oil? Wouldn't you want a Low RG ball so it turns sooner?

hotwire. It's not that he can't find a line, he wants actual miss room, which is something you don't have on that type of pattern.

bob, i understand what you mean because more oil usually decreases forgiveness, but i bowl on this type of shot on sundays.  i play what i call a "mika" line, putting a decent amount of hand into my razor wire, from about 7 or 8 out to 5.  if i threw the same ball from 15 out to 10, the ball would go through the 3 pin at best.  by moving out to the gutter, you create your own hold area, because what used to be your actual line now becomes the "tug room" for errant shots.  there may be long oil, but 9 out of 10 times there is friction...it just needs to be found and taken advantage of.  and most of the guys in the league are using "heavy" equipment, so i am pretty sure this is similar to what hes talking about.

thanks for the help guys.. bobs right just lookin for about a board n a half room, didnt think that was askin for much.. usually end up playing up 8 board. I realize the staighter the line the less miss room. I bowl two leagues a week (same house)and maybe 6 prac games.. average is down to high 190s this year. guess I just didnt want to buy 3 balls a year like some of the guys
