Help with medium oil ball
« on: May 14, 2015, 04:24:02 PM »
Hi guys,

Looking for a true medium oil ball, so far what I use for medium oil is my sigma sting but sometimes it labors to get back to the pocket... so I ball up either to my totally defiant or bw assassin adjusting hand position.

Im a lefty with 40-45 rotation, 15-16 mph and around 300 revs

Was thinking on Motiv forza, but how about the iq tour nano polished?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated, I prefer motiv but im open to any brand!

Thanks

If you still want it a bit clean up front go up to the Vengeance!  Great ball. If you want earlier. Forza or Covert

I love my Sigma Sting.  I also really like the original Covert Revolt as a step above.  It is still clean down the lane at box finish but will provide a similar arc reaction and be continuous in back.  The Vengeance is cleaner up front and will be a bit more angular in back.  All of the Revolt line is very predictable though and either will fit your game well.

A few options in the Radical line would be:
Yeti Unleashed - good surface with predictable motion in the midlane with a strong continous arc on the backend.
Yeti Untamed - length with an angular motion on the backend
Yeti Uncaged - good multi condition ball that will give you a good benchmark if you are needing something stronger or weaker
All three of these take to surface adjustments very well if needed and will cover any medium lane condition you run into.

If you're looking at the IQ Tour Nano and polishing it, I would think the IQ Tour Solid would be a better true medium oil ball - especially as it gets lane shine with use.

If you're looking at Motiv, the Venom Shock is the go to ball right now for medium conditions that would be somewhat similar to the IQ Tour line.

Vengeance with the proper layout would tame the angle of the ball? Need something cleaner than the sting because mine starts just a little bit early and burns energy leaving flat 7s when it labors back to the pocket.

Plus how well it handles medium-light medium-heavy

The Sting is a medium oil ball.  So my question would be why is it laboring?

If it's starting early and somewhat burning up(laboring) try a Tag!

At my center I have a feeling that the oiling machines just dont work properly, we play on a short pattern were the breakpoint is around 5th board, and sometimes the ball just wont come back to the pocket or burning up, the cleaning process isnt that good so they oil on top of the old oil. Wet dry conditions pretty much all weeks.

Best regards

If it's starting early and somewhat burning up(laboring) try a Tag!

Already drilled mine! and ofc it is stronger than advertised, only tried it for 6-7 games so still trying to find out where it fits in my arsenal, might as well be that medium oil ball

If the Sting is a little too early and burning up; then the Tag should be a great ball to go to as it is cleaner through the front and should give you more recovery/backend motion.  I would not suggest a Forza as it is an earlier rolling ball.  If you want something to handle more oil than the Tag and yet still give backend motion; then maybe the Venom Panic or even Shock could be possibilities.

All these ball suggestions, when your first course of action should be to adjust the cover on your Sting (and probably remove some oil).  The way you described your reaction change is consistent with oil saturation and perhaps some cover changes from wear and tear.

I would get the Sting refreshed then make a decision on a new ball if the Sting is still not meeting expectations.
