I can't find many pictures of carter and none show his bent arm

How does my timing look? When I was bowling yaba a guy came up to me and told me my timing was bad then my coach said my timing is fine what do you guys think?

Timing looked ok to me, your feet may be a bit quick but it is hard to tell with the video being shot from behind. For people to make a more accurate analysis of your timing we need to see video shot from the side.

ig--Since you are in a YABA program.  Do you not have good coaches in your program?  One on one instruction is the way to go IMO.  Net fixes are just a shot in the dark.

If you don't have good coaches that have open minds and can move you along.....find some in your area.  Least that's what I would do.

There are a bunch of guys walking around that really aren't coaches and couldn't help me at all. I have individual coaching sometimes but he doesn't really show me anything new...

To Scotts33,

What are you doing? He asked for are advice, we gave it and you tell him to take everything he hears with a grain of salt and to use Don Carter as an example, he bowled decades ago the games changed alot since then. Maybe you should give him your advice instead of degrading ours...

To all you guys that know everything.  All I was saying to interglactic was that he really should seek some individual coaching one on one.  Net advice is just that advice NOT coaching.

As far as Don Carter as a role model.  What I am saying here if one has a particular what most of you guys would term a flaw but is peculiar to that bowler it might be wise before you change his total game around to see if that peculiarlarity might do him well.  Trying to change everybody into the SAME model is not for all.  Have an open mind people...sheesh!  Please read the paragraph John Jowdy wrote on page #10 in this month's Oct. BTM.  I won't quote the whole article Mr. Jowdy wrote but here's how he starts the paragraph on page #10 I refer to "Unfortunately, some instructor's steadfastly go by the book and fail to recognize the success of bowlers who apply unusual methods of execution"  Mr. Jowdy goes on please refer to this if you fail to understand what I tried to explain here.

intergalactic--If I were you and you are not getting good coaching and want more either seek a program where you feel you will get more of what you need or seek individualized coaching from a qualified coach.  Be armed with questions about specifically if you need to lock your elbow or if a coach feels you can progress with a bent arm technique.  I will tell you there are many bent arm technique modern players.  True it is an older style but both Don Carter and Earl Anthony two of the best the game has ever produced both used that technique.

Wish you luck!

I would respectfully agree with Scott in that you get a qualified coach to help you. I think you have the makings of a good game and a coach will help you with practice tips and also let you know what to change about your game.
I won't make any suggestions because I'm NOT a certified coach and don't want to lead you down a path that might be wrong. I would suggest to keep practicing the basics and go from there.
 Good luck and high scores.............
 P.S. Keep us posted.
