Oiling Lanes
« on: April 20, 2007, 02:58:55 AM »
Is there a minimum amount of oil   it seems like where we bowl gets worse and worse every week

last 2 weeks they was so dry that if i threw my normal line i was lucky to hit a 7 pin if not gutter           so i end up using a plastic ball and going straight all day

Let me guess-You bowl in an AMF house. Where I bowl the lanes are bowled on by recreational bowlers before we bowl in league(6 PM) so it's always a mystery. It seems that AMF cares more about jamming as many people onto a lane as possible and turn a deaf ear to league bowlers who drop probably a grand a year at the house. In 2009 my entire league(24 teams) are leaving this house and going to one that cares about its core bowlers. I would kill for a typical house shot. If you are a low rev down and in bowler who never moves or makes any adjustments ever you can avg deuce+ where I bowl-If you have been bowling for years and knowledgeable you have a choice-retard your hand positions and use polished equipment. The only good thing is at tournament time the faux 200 bowler gets smoked by the guy who knows this game and has an A,B,and C game.

if the leagues want to rent the lanes before the league is bowled to preserve the fresh oil than the center would turn away the open bowlers.  the conditions are easy enough even with a little carry down/over under/spotty.

ONly rule is that they have to apply 3 units minimum for as far as they apply oil on the lane.

No rule says they have ever oil the lanes.

good news = our league doesnt allow anyone to bowl on the freshly oiled lanes before leagues starts.

bad news = i think the oil machine is broke or they are really cheap about putting the oil on the lane.    lol

# of bowling balls = too many
highest game = not high enough
league avg. = its getting there
tournaments won = let me get back to u on this one

If you don't like the oil, go somewhere else.  Houses that are shifting too more and more open play WANT you to leave.  Houses that take care of their lanes want leagues to stay and grow bigger.  It is as simple as that.

Complaining about oil is the same as complaining about not oil.

I've broken out the urethane before and played really straight inside as that was the only place there was any oil.

It's fun.
