What's wrong with Phila.
« on: July 31, 2004, 11:17:05 PM »
We've been to some cool bowling houses in Phila.
I don't understand how or why Sproul in Phila. got the pros in there??
No offense, it was a neat lane, but we've been to bigger ones with more parking? Plus travel down there was tough, we think that's where someone nipped my son's rental car at a light. We didn't notice til we got back, thought it was a near miss.
Wilmington, Del has an awesome lane also.
We rarely hear of anything big in Phila.?
Or even Atlantic City, don't know much about bowling down there.

Is it the promoters, or the propreitors?
We were to Glenn Burnie for a coaching thingy, locals seemed bummed it was there again. Incovience to some. I can understand their feelings.

Question is "what's up?"

I told our local guy hammer folks told me they were looking for a place for Labor Day weekend a few years back, when I mentioned it to him, his attitude was, we're closed Labor Day!

Its because Philly is a real shady place. And some of the alleys there are in like south philly, and the real bad parts, high crime rates. No one wants to go to a tourney where there gonna get shot at hahahaha. Ya know what I mean?

We've been to Facenda Whitaker a few times.
Loved it there, Son liked the lanes, went to ABT's there several times. Were warned it is bad area at night. Was easy enough to find.

I agree, travling down to Phila. is scarey if you get lost.

Heck bad things happen everywhere. Our small town was on news a few times for rare shooting. Years back someone killed a cop at my mom's favorite place to work. Made news.

Matter of knowing where to avoid, and who.

One time went to Comp USA down in city area down past Facenda, was a detour coming home, I didn't follow it, took the major route we were on, which went through town, it was late at night and we is white, that area wasn't. We locked our doors and were scared, we knew we weren't where we belonged.

Nothing against black folks but when you're white and end up in an area that is truly bad, it's scarey as all get out. I wish I were rich enough to do something about those kind of areas.

Have a great Aunt who lived her entire life in Phila. She said, not much different than the country, just put your stuff away at dark and stay inside at night.

If I remember correctly a week or two after we went to Towson, that sniper started in the area.

Heck we got off wrong exit in Maryland, scared this country gal.

Seems we go a week before bad stuff. Hope God keeps watching us and keeps us from harms way.

Went to Lancaster and Lebanon Counties, week before tornadoes hit them. My internet buddy was just teasing me, don't want to follow in my path. (smile)

I didn't go to York today. Wish guys were home. Weather has been weird this year in PA.

Sproul used to be my home house. Not the greatest but not bad. I know they lost money hosting the tournament, and the lanes (old wood) really took a beating. The pros won't be back this year. Maybe not ever. Nobody in the house is sorry to see it go. Seeing the best in the game is neat, but I'm glad they won't be back in a house where I bowl.
If I owned a center and an event takes money out of my pocket and increases maintenance costs, I wouldn't be in a hurry to host it.

Great Points Louie,
Sproul is a nice house. I agree why have them back if it loses the house money in the end.
My son bowled win a spot twice down there the other year, went back to watch with tickets given out.
He enjoyed being able to watch how the pro's shoot the line.
Loved being there.
I stayed home because the house is so small for a big crowd. I hate places where you keep bumping into folks.

Heck I wanted my money back at DISNEY for that reason!!!! Seriously, I even asked if I could sell my ticket at gate. Wasn't thinking clearly. Went off crying, hated the crowds. SPring break 100 year celebration going on.!!! Bad time to visit Disney if you hate crowds!!
