equipment breakdown procedure?

If a pair of lanes breaks down during a series, and play must be transferred to another pair of lanes, is any practice allowed on the new pair of lanes before resuming scoring?  If practice IS allowed, what are the guidelines or limitations?

Anytime I've ever had to change pairs because of breakdown we were not allowed practice.  We just continued the game from where we left off.  Not sure if there is any rules concerning this or if it is based on league bylaws.

I've had both 5 minutes of practice, and no practice.  I don't even know if there is a USBC rule that says what to do.  Most leagues probably don't bother to establish their own rule.

I've never gotten any practice whenever that's occurred. Most participants are so annoyed by that time (having waited for someone to come to try to repair the lanes, waiting while they tried to repair them, waiting more while the manager tried to decide if the wait for the repair will be too long, deciding which pair to put us on, everyone packign up their equipment to move to the new pair, etc.)  By that time, few bowlers want extra practice. Plus everyone starts with the same handicap.

When teams are transferred to a new pair of lanes, practice should not be allowed.  The bowlers should resume play from the point of interruption without practice.
