Keep in mind that all sport conditions are not equal. A lot of things come into play when you are talking about "sport patterns". Lane surface is the biggest key. If you are bowling on a good surface ( i.e pro-anvilane or HPL9000 ) the scoring pace should be much higher than if you are bowling on older wood or any type of overlay ( i.e lane shield, guardian ). Another factor that comes into play is if the leagues varies the patterns from week to week. Some sport leagues use as many as 5 different patterns and they rotate them equally throughout the year. If a league uses 1 pattern for the entire year, the better players will adapt and become proficient at it. Another huge factor is the quality of players in the league ( or specifically on a pair ). Better players know how to break down patterns to make it look like almost a normal house pattern. If you use your practice time wisely, have a game plan going in and you are staying on the same pair of lanes for the night you can see some pretty good scores come out of sport leagues. The thing that i don't agree with is that all Sport Leagues are recognized as the same by the USBC, but as i described above they certainly aren't.
