Does a 300 game have more value than a local golf score?
« on: April 02, 2012, 10:56:32 PM »

The Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune sports section runs daily reports of local scores such as the following:

PALM AIRE CC -- 3BB -- A: John Anderson, Stuart Anderson, Fred Benzing, Gary Shorts 202; B: Bob Archdale, Gordon Gallow, Bob Gandy 200; C: John Graber, Jim Adams, Butch Washburn, Dennis Sinclair 200.

VENICE G&CC -- 3 Best Quota Pts Per Hole -- Bob Kinder, Ron Bauerle, Mario Testa, Fran Parisi 84; Jim Johnston, Jim Shook, Joe Leva, Bill Mathis 67; Jim Greensleider, Hal McReynolds, Ron Bruce, Sam Zehner 50.

VILLAGE GREEN GC (Sarasota) -- Net -- Whitey Barton, Tom Hardin, Joe Corso, proxy (even) 232; Chuck Gurney, George Martin, Glenn Miller, proxy (+2) 234; Henry Thelan, Bo French, Lacey Cross, John Harris (+11) 243; Individual: Ted Smith 54; Gross: C. Gurney 65, J. Corso 65.

Because such local golf scores are reported every single day and such things as 300 games and 800 series rolled by area bowlers are NEVER MENTIONED, does that mean that scores from a local golf scramble have more "value" than a perfect game?

In today's Sarasota Herald-Tribune sports section, there were the following soccer reports:

* Complete MLS standings, daily results from April 4 through yesterday, plus the daily schedule through May 5

* Complete England standings, plus results from last Wednesday through yesterday, plus the schedule through next Saturday

* Complete German standings, plus results and schedule

[However, the Herald-Tribune can't seem to find any space for local bowling or PBA results, and I think it's safe to say that the PBA Tournament of Champions results won't even appear in tomorrow's paper]

I guess it figures that soccer scores mean more than bowling scores. What value do bowling scores have anymore?
