don't know...i didn't look back after i dropped my ball from the bridge.

You can also make a 16# ball float, just takes a lot of salt.  Used to do this to find CG on the ball.  You'd be surprised how many balls are mismarked.

You should take a look at what happens after the ball hits the water.  You'll see two well defined splashes.  One as the ball hits the surface of the river, the second when it hits bottom, or gets deep enough that the "hole" it made closes behind it.  I've done this "experiment" many times.  Just my way of providing a diverse habitat for the fish.
