High-performance vs. mid-performance
« on: January 24, 2011, 12:45:58 AM »
What is everyones opinions on my options.  I am around 350 revs with above average tilt and around 15 mph downlane speed.  I am looking to pick up a ball to handle medium conditions and give me a hard angular response to friction.  I am on a tight budget though.  Buddies Pro Shop has 920As and Black Widow Nastys for sale at a lower price than say a Long Shot or 2Fast.  I have a 505A but it is drilled with the pin over middle finger and can handle lighter mediums.  Should I go for the deal even though I may have to use a weak drilling and polish or get a ball that by design will fill the spot in my arsenal?  Just looking for opinions and ideas.  Thanks.

Jeremiah

Get a ball that is suppose to do what you want it to do. Don't get a ball just because its popular and your gonna have to work your ass off just to get it how u like it. If you on a budget anyway, just get a mid performance ball.

The 920A can fill this void, just realize that due to the cover strength on this ball you will need to drill it fairly weak in order to get the reaction you are looking for on the condition you are intending to use it. I have a 2 different 920A's, but the one I have to fill a similiar void as what you are looking for has the pin about an inch above the fingers and a 1/4 left of the middle finger with the MB an inch and a half right of the thumb, and it still has a ridiculous down lane reaction at OOB surface. I use it for medium sport patterns once a hook spot is generated.

I have a similiarly drilled pin down 920A, almost a Mike Fagan special, which is fantastic on starting to open up long sport patterns.

Thanks for the input so far.  The 920A really intrigues me, with its higher rg to give it some push down lane.

Check Brunswick's Damage, too. Higher RG, PK18 pearl - IMHO a first budget choice for medium conditions.
