I just need to vent, so please no one take this to heart. I bought a ball from the local proshop several months ago. During this whole time I have never been quite able to get my finger tips in the grips like they should. This last sunday, I decide to try a new set of grips. The grips I used have maybe 2 games in one of my other balls. I use the exact same grips for every ball 3/4 for middle and 23/32 for ring finger made by Tenth Frame. Anyway, I switch grips middle finger for middle, and come to realize that it is not the grips problem. At the end of my 3rd game, the proshop guy just happens to show up and I decide to confront him about it. I politely ask if he used the right drill bit for the fingers. As soon as I said that, he busts out laughing and flat out says "are you saying that I do not know how to do my job?". We do a little arguing about it for a couple of minutes and he makes a suggestion of getting a larger insert for the fingers. I reluctantly agree and try the next size insert. With the insert in the ball, it allows my finger to go in properly, but there is too much play around the finger itself. So we swap inserts, and he and I go on our separate ways.
Today, I decide to do a little experiment with the larger insert. With the insert out of the ball, it is clearly too big for my finger. As soon as you put the insert in the ball, which takes some effort because you have to shove pretty hard to get it in the finger hole, it then fits my finger. So I decide to grab a ruler and measure the size of the finger holes. They measure 31/32. I grab the ball that I originally took the inserts out and measure it. It measures 1 inch. So I grab several other balls, and they all measure 1 inch.
It just seals the deal in my mind that I am not going to go back to that proshop again. I will go 2 hours away to get any ball work or buy a new ball. What really set me off sunday is that he laughed at everything I said and did not want to listen to what I had to say. I was not trying to call him a bad driller or anything, I just wanted some answers. His only answer was it has to be the actual insert and the inserts that I bought must have been wrong from the get go and it had nothing to do with his drilling. Oh, well, Since I am going to the state tournament this weekend, I will ask the proshop there what they think and see what they will do since they enjoy getting the business from my town. The proshop there is the one that is 2 hours away and the one that I will more than likely deal with from now on, that is if they treat me the way a person should be treated.
I feel better now.
