What the BIG DEAL????
« on: April 23, 2005, 06:17:53 AM »
I mostly roll storm with a mix of a inferno or two
but i keep hearing that the hammer big deal is the
best ball out right now. does anyone have 2 cents
trow in the mix to help me decide if its the next
ball i drill up.

My current arsenal:
Vertigo
Ace
Hotrod hybrid
intense inferno
atomic charge
triple x
triple xtreme
razor wire

In your current arsenal, the only particle I see is the Ace, and that's a pearl.  While the Big Deal is a particle pearl, it's a STRONG particle pearl.  I'd compare it to the GP2, while i've thrown both balls (albeit limited, around 3 games on both) they are similar.  I think the GP2 may be stronger in the midlane while the Big Deal would be stronger in the backend (both had the same layout).

In my opinion, the best ball out is Morich's shock and all.It will go long and flip really really hard in the backends.I also have dulled it up for a better midlane reaction and it still kept coming in the backend.

Yes, but, I believe the Shock and Awe is the Vanguard core wrapped with the Intense Inferno coverstock (Activator+).  Reaction-wise, I believe that the S&A would be too similar to the Ace, the Big Deal would be a lot stronger overall.

I have never rolled mo or hammer but i dont have access to a shock n awe so i need more imput on the big deal. I can get a mo but id rather stick with proven stuff.

Big Deal is very strong, but also very versatile.  Put the pin down and it'll check up a earlier and be more even (with some surface help), raise the pin above the fingers and polish it, and you'll have a more skid/flippy reaction.  Just a very good, very versatile ball all around.  I'm sure we'll hear from Jason Jenkins (anotherwindup) pretty soon so he can chime in.

Here is a great review from a VERY respected reviewer who posts here as well as 123bowl.com

The owner of the shop where I drill part-time is a Hammer staffer and he has 3 Big Deals, has shot multiple 800s with them, and absolutely loves the ball, very strong, but can be smooth and predictable, but also can be REALLY flippy.
