How much does your league offer in Jackpots?
« on: September 05, 2008, 06:25:07 AM »
Now I haven't started my Friday league yet but last year you could make about 3k if you swept all the pots.  If you caught the right game you could pocket about 1200. I just hope to win enough to turn a little profit.  All you have to do is have one career night every year and that's it.

The league that I joined after moving to Albert Lea would do a $5 bracket. First place would get $20 second would get $10 third would get $5. What the other $5 went to I don't know. A few nights I went out winning enough to make up for my bowling and my wifes bowling the shift before us.

There are no jackpots in any of the leagues I bowl in.

You're right, Detroit area did have some good money leagues when I used to live there.

The Jackpots my leagues have are hardly jackpots. They are incentives...

No that Sunday league is sick, in that league you can walk with about 10k on a sweep but that only happens once every two years.  I have heard story's one game paying about 4k.  Crazy money.

You can go home with about 200 to 300 if you sweep all the jackpots here. there is more money put into the hustle, or pot games whatever you wanna call it. I've left with 1500 before winning all the jackpots and a few hustles.

Wednesday Hdcp league offers brackets, side pots, strike lotto (but that is a house thing), and mystery game.  I'm not sure but I think they offer scratch and hdcp brackets. Brackets are $25 1st $10 2nd and $5 goes to the guy who runs the brackets.  The mystery game can be as low as $50-$60 and has gotten as high as around $400.  It uses game 2 score and if no one hits the score pulled, the money rolls over.  Week 1 it was 282 and rolled over to this week.

Monday, Scratch Sport league offers side pots and brackets. It is a 4 game league, so there are brackets using games 1 - 3 and brackets using 2 - 4.  Payouts are $25 1st and 10 2nd.  The 5 goes to the secretary who uses it on sweepers.  Based on how many they enter during the year etermines the number of free brackets sweeps night.

What league is that? There are some decent leagues Downriver. The Tuesday league at Taylor Lanes you can walk out with about probably 800 if you swept. The Friday night league I know is a lot more though probably at least 1200. The Tuesday night league used to be a lot bigger too. Dropped 6 more teams this year and about 10 in the last 3 years.

I hate bowling in those leagues with huge jackpots every night -- they're giant money sucks.  You spend so much getting in doubles with tons of people, etc., and you end up needing to shoot HUGE numbers to win.  I prefer the smaller $150-$200/pot types of leagues where you don't have to get in doubles with as many partners and can luck into winning with games lower than 279 occasionally.
