What has been your highest book average without bowling a 300 game?
Personally, I've booked 215 (3 years ago - haven't had a book average since), and still haven't shot a sanctioned 300.
Just curious due to the fact that there are people on here and locally who don't (or barely) average 200 and have multiple 300 games.

I have booked over 200 for the past four years (high of 215 this season), and I am yet to have a 300.
I am the only bowler on my houses top ten average board without one.

I'm in the same boat as you. Carried a 216 average and my highest sanctioned game is 298. I've shot 2 - 300's during practice. I guess there' always next time out.

235 was my highest ever without a 300 game. This season 219 is my highest without a 300 game.
I do have 300 games, but high averages don't always mean you shoot 300 or 800 series. In the 235 season I had 1 800 series.

I think some of you have it wrong.....the OP is asking someone who has never shot 300 what was your highest average. Not what your highest average was in a year you didn't shoot a 300 game. At least, that is my take on it.
To rockerbowler, you mentioned it yourself, there are many people who average 200 or below that have 1 or more 300 games. I have seen a 160 average bowler shoot 300 before (on a side note, they didn't even shoot a 600 series with it, 162-300-135 = 597). Shooting 300 isn't a indocator of a bowler's ability as much as it was in the past. Personally, I feel shooting 800 is better indicator of a bowler's skill. That requires adjustments and bowling good across 3 games, not just one. Granted it is easier to shoot 800 now then it was in the past too, but it is a little better indicator of skill then a 300 or even multiple 300 games. JMHO

Also, Jorge, that's what I was asking for - because shooting 300 used to mean you were bowling good. Now I hear "I shot 300" and it makes me wonder how many were Brooklyn or trip 2 pins.

teammate has booked a 227, and still no 300. 800 this season though, and just shot his 2nd 800 Monday night.

I will end this season with a 214 book average and still no 300, thou i value 800s more
i am getting close, i have shot 290 each of the last 2 years (plus 6 different 279s, both 290s and 5 of the 279s are 9 pin leaves lol)

Ahh, it happens in all sports.
I have a few 299s in practice, including one when a friend came and spoke to me for 10 minutes before I could throw my 12th ball! He he!
As to golf I have no hole in ones including a season where I hit the flag on par 3s 22 times. I don't think I played 40 times that year! But in golf I guess I sort of have the equivalent of 899....SO, we've had our fun! Oh by way, lots and lots of eagles!!

PS took the day off from playing with a high school friend and who had never had a hole in one and he had a hole in one and a double eagle in the same round.
PPS never saw a hole in one by anyone till I was in my 40s! except on TV!
