recommendations for changes?
« on: November 28, 2008, 08:33:39 PM »
Ok, my alleys here uses really short oiling, 37feet only. I am a lefty with 13mph and 230rpm revs. and most of the times my ball just gives my brooklyns or ugly splits. right now i'm playing around 33boards out to 10boards.

right now i'm looking of getting equipments like avalanche series or neptune. i need balls that goes really long that i could actually play the outside line, meanwhile learning to get more ball speed.

which type of drillings would really suit me?

Long, control drillings would probably work best.  Most ball manufacturers include this type of layout on their drill sheets.  It's typically a pin up drill with the cg more towards the grip center, rather than kicked or stacked.

If the oil pattern is only 37' you'll have to get your ball out further than the 10 board to have success.

I would suggest moving your target to inside of 5.

On a pattern like that where the ball is going to want to hook for days, I would suggest a dull ball, to smooth out your reaction.

Also, if you can't turn up the speed, you're going to have to turn down the revs...

well, thanks for the replies.

was wondering, if i get a dull ball drilled with pin up and cg in center, would the ball start rolling too early due to its surface?

i turn down quite some revs alr.

i would pick up one of those orange warlocks on ebay.  i just got mine drilled up and boy is this thing LOONG and SMOOTH   doesnt really snap a whole lot. and with your slow speed it should do just the trick for you.

short patterns usually play closer to the gutter. Try to play 5 board or left of that.

went for some training earlier.

but this time round, i brought only a urethane and a plastic. seems more comfortable with these 2, but my urethane ain't really reacting much to the pocket. have to really rev it up to get some carry.

decided to try some low end balls.

jus to check, the scout reactives now only have a pancake core?

if that's the case... might just consider storm tropical or power groove.
any recommendations guys?

thank!

Ive seen some guys at local alley throwing the powergroove Dry/r and the proshop operator said it is a wonderful ball when the lanes get dry.

Avalanche Pearl or Slide
Columbia 300 Jazz

which one should I get? Was thinking of getting the Jazz and drill it 5x4 with my pin on top of my fingers.
