Looking for some helpful insight regarding my arsenal.

I currently bowl in August,GA with a 203 average, and have only been bowling for about a year now competitively. I recently just bought the IQ new, and am now in the process of finding a compliment benchmark ball to go along with it. Still being very new to the sport, the process has been overwhelming to some degree, but I have some ideas here and there. I've recently been reviewing the Storm Tropical Heat Hybrid (Black/Silver), the Storm Fringe, as well as the Crossroad, and IQ Tour as potential prospects.

One of my biggest concerns I have is mainly the longevity of the ball, as well as how versatile it is when it comes to adjusting the surface. Any useful feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Slick I'm not that far down the road in Monroe. I bowl the 250 Masters each year there and always have a blast, you should give it a shot if you haven't already.

There are lots of good pieces out there, but the most important things are what you want the ball to do compared to your IQ? Now I want to make sure you have the IQ not the IQ tour correct? Also how is the IQ drilled and what is the surface on it?

Once those things are clear a few suggestions should be easy to make

Thanks. I'm still kind of contemplating whether I'll bowl in it or not with it being my first year n all still. Idk, and Yea. Its just the Storm IQ. Not the tour.

Mainly jus lookin for somethin thts alil more predictable than my IQ is. Something that reads the mids well, and that can give me a nice hard arc on the backend. Currently my IQ is getting redrillled. With the pin down layout I had on it, and my speed jus about average, it was just too unpredictable for me when going down lane. Lookin to put a smoother layout come monday. Possible pin up over the bridge, with the CG kicked to the left (since im LH). But those are just some ideas though.

Also if need be, somethin versatile I can tweak the surface on to get it to do wat i need it to.

Benchmark Storm ball = Hy-Road. There's a reason why they keep making this piece after four years. It's just a great, all-around versatile ball, and a nice step-down from the IQ.

Okay that helps...I hate to disagree with the above poster, but if the IQ is too much backend...the HyRoad will be much more. Yes it's a benchmark ball but the IQ is one of the smoother balls in the Storm line. I would be really interested in knowing more about your game...because if the IQ is too angular....I would want to know why.

I'm not saying it isn't possible...because how a particular ball rolls for you is all about matchup. It sounds like the ball is a poor matchup for your style. Putting the pin above the bridge will probably make it even more angular, either way we would try to do it by the numbers using your tilt, pap, etc.

I kinda see where your comin from. As far as my PAP n etc, wit me still being new to the sport I have yet configure mines, however my pro shop guy recently just got his USBC coaching certificate, and said he would with me on getting that figured out. So ill definitely be sure to get tht info to you ASAP. This is what I was afraid of though. I am hoping once I redrill it, that the matchup isn't as poor as before, otherwise I may just sell it. With it being my first legit Storm bowling ball tho, Im kind of reluctant. Style wise, I"d be classified as a LH Tweener with average ball speed if that helps.
