Release
« on: April 02, 2009, 01:59:44 PM »
Hey guys,

Well, i've seen videos and such of myself from time to time, and I just can't stand the fact of how far away my release is from my ankle. My hand must be about a foot away from my ankle. I've tried changing my form up a bit, but it's not exactly helping. What is the best way to get the release closer to your ankle?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you!

Get your arm closer to your ankle!

Better.
Keep the ball at least halfway outside of your elbow.

Keep that elbow nice and tight to your body.  Concentrate on keeping it behind the ball as long as possible.  Focus also on staying nice and upright at the foul line with your body (bend with your knee, not your waist, since the waist can bend you forward OR sideways) -- improving your balance and posture can help bring your arm back closer to your body.

If you have a video camera, or a digital camera that does video at least, take it with you to practice sometime when you're working on your armswing.   Immediate feedback from seeing yourself throw the ball, instead of just feeling it, will tell you a lot.

in the backswing let it go back away from your body then in the downswing let it come back in it really helps and gets you good leverage
