Any input on Buying new Ball.....
« on: January 06, 2010, 10:17:18 PM »
I'm currently a lefty bowler 16 mph, avergae revs. I stay behind the ball , a tweener , and my go to ball is a Playmaker. On THS my playmaker is my hardest hitting ball. I plan to start shooting on a few pro shots and need something more aggressive . The options I'm considering are - Pure Swing , Mutant Cell , Jigsaw Corner ,Total Bedlam or Invasion. Any input on which of these balls would be well suited for me. I like to play up 10 to my breakpoint being 5 and want an aggressive backend ball.

The only ball I can give you feedback on is the Mutant Cell, because I just bought one myself. I also own a Playmaker, and might play a little inside of your line on the right side.

The Mutant seems to match what you are looking for more surface with an aggressive backend.  I've seen multiple people successfully use this ball on heavy oil.  Most recently, I practiced on the Scorpion pattern and felt I had multiple angles I could play with adjusting speed and hand position.  Only drawback I've found is its not very good with carry down.

Yea I bowled on the chameloen and my playmaker would squirt a little bit . I saw a few people throw the mutant and I agree its aggressive. I think I'm leaning towards the jigsaw corner but getting some different insights is what I'm open to. Thanks for your opinions Hornet

ok, with what you are looking for it its tough to have that aggressive a ball with that much surface. from what iv heard the Corner is bust, so i wouldnt get that. the mutant cell is more of an even rolling ball to begin with and wont give you the angle you want... although it would compliment your playmaker nicely on your normal shot. you cant go wrong with the other three... im a storm guy so id lean towards the invasion, but i would not go with the jigsaw or the mutant cell

How can the Jigsaw Corner be a bust? It isn't even released until 1/12/2010, so its not even out there yet.

I'm not a Hammer guy or anything, just don't know how something that isn't even released yet can be a bust.

Maybe he has the Jigsaw Corner confused with the original Jigsaw.  Not saying the Jigsaw was a bust because I never owned one.  But the Invasion is suppose to be about 3-5 boards stronger in the back end then the Virtual Gravity and a better swing ball then the VG.  So though I haven''t thrown the Invasion yet, I''m going to throw the Invasion first.

If thats it, then he needs to shut his mouth until he knows what he's talking about. You sure as heck can't make a ball recommendation if you're not even aware of what you're talking about.

I know people want to help, but if you don't even know what's going on or what's out there, how can you possibly even try to give anyone else advice?

If he has some inside information on the Jigsaw Corner, let him expound on what makes it a bust. If not, learn not to make yourself look ignorant by bad-mouthing a ball that's not even out yet and that you know nothing about.

Not only that, but then he goes on to tout the virtues of another ball that isn't even out yet, the Invasion, merely because he's a STORM guy.  Neither of the balls is out yet, but one is a BUST and one is RECOMMENDED as being good?

HOW CAN YOU KNOW THIS YET? ARE YOU ON STAFF SOMEWHERE?

How can one be a BUST and the other be GOOD, yet NEITHER ONE IS RELEASED YET?

The guy is looking for sound advice, NOT TOTAL CONJECTURE BASED ON YOUR PREFERENCES.

Don't lead people down the primrose path based on your personal conjecture and preferences. And don't try to impress somebody like you know more than possible because it really makes you look silly to those out there that DO know.
