HOOTERS Scratch League
« on: August 24, 2009, 11:38:56 AM »
Country Club lanes in Sacramento is hosting the HOOTERS Classic Scratch this fall on Tuesday nights at 7:00pm.  $2500 donated by HOOTERs.  I understand a HOOTERS girl will be cocktail waitressing each week.  (I heard that information no proof).  4 person 850 cap.  For further information contact Country Club lanes or Greater Sacramento Area USBC.

Sounds like that could be good. Pics are wanted if the waitress is true.

This is a privately owned center.  The center was just certified (I was in the pits myself) and all was well.  The center just purchased a new/er Lanewalker oiling machine which is putting out a very nice shot.

An additional $500 is donated to the prize fund from local Walker Chiropractic.

The 850 cap is the same as the Monday night league in a neighboring center.  If you wish information on the Mark Benavidez Classic Scratch at Crestview lanes (privately owned) you can also contact Crestview Lanes or GSA Area USBC office.

Country Club in Sac, I remember some great tournaments there.  Have not heard from them in quite a while, are they trying to get back into the league and tournament participation?

A Cap is just another form of handicapping.

A true scratch league has no cap.

I think maybe.  :-)

This summer was a 420 doubles scratch that was very popular. So I think this coming winter will be a good season for them.

there is one scratch league that I believe has no cap and that is the Steve Cook classic. Everything else around here has a cap. Oh and I think travel league has no cap either...

if its scratch the whole point is lost with any type of cap. the cap does the same thing handicap does, limits the advantage of better players. a 235 avg guy can bowl as long as he wants to only bowl with lesser average bowlers. thats not right. he should be able to bowl with whoever he wants to. its scratch!

The bad news having a scratch league without cap is that when you do 'stack' a team and people get the idea of "whats the point of bowling if "A" team, wins all their points every week or the majority of them?" Then there is no sense to bowl in it. It runs everybody out of the league and ends up folding.

I see the point behind the ones who feel about having no cap though.

The deal with having the cap is that it gives all teams a fair chance to compete for the top spot. Our Scratch League this summer, 3 teams had a chance to win it all on the final week. So I see it from both points of view.

I guess I look at like a salary cap in sports. It tries to level the playing field a little bit. But my question is when is the cap set?
