Rant: Dishonest pro-shops
« on: April 18, 2004, 09:17:22 PM »
One thing that really cheeses me off about bowling is pro-shops that try to rip of customers, you know the type the guy that sells a bowler who is new to bowling the most expensive/reactive ball on the market knowing very well that he should be selling them a plastic or at the highest end of the scale a "mild" urethane.

I went to a pro shop today and asked about a couple of relatively new pearl balls. This guy obviously thought I was some kind of idiot as he said these balls were "Discontinued" due to being old technology and tried to sell me a Throttle/r.

No wonder certain sports such as bowling get a bad name when you have people like this around willing to fleece the public for all that they can knowing also that thier "ineptitude" will probably harm a bowlers progress.

We should have a board on hear where we can name and shame these guys and another where we can big up the guys that do a good job.

Those "criminals" make me so mad!!!!!
I would have got away with it if it was not for those pesky kids (Behind my lane) and those blasted 10 pins.

True....

I even said to tgis guy that I'm looking for a pro shop that treats its customers like they should, with care and consideration. They fail to realise that if they look after thier customers they are likely to be repeat customers for years to come.

I'm glad you treat your decently!! Keep up the good work.

Hi super,
You can use the buyer/seller or online proshop forum on this site to let people know about any problems, there are more people from the UK using this site all the time and I see no reason why we can't help each other like this on here.By the way where was it you went?If you'd rather not answer no problem.

I had a pro shop want to charge me extra money for drilling a ball leverage weight because it was a "high tech" drilling.  I was new in town at the time and he had no clue who I was or what I averaged.  I gave him some information and he didn't charge me for the drilling.  I haven't been back nor will I go back.
