Horrible night HELP
« on: April 01, 2008, 01:47:48 PM »
I had such a horrible bowling night lastnight. I could not stop bouncing my ball. I had to sub in my early league and I felt like a basketball player. The more I tried to get lower, relax my swing anything the worse it got. I then switched lanes for my scratch league and it was soooooo embarrasing! I felt like I was skipping stones. To make that worse my final game of the night I must've had my ball bouncing at least 4 times per shot.I had the first nine and it was the most mentally painful bowling time of my life.I truly hate that I am bouncing it.I need help WTF can I do to fix this.I keep replaying my shots in my head and I can't seem to fix it.

The most obvious solution is more tape in the thumb hole.  Sounds like the ball was falling off your hand early.  You'd be surprised how many people don't recognize when they need more tape.

That's funny you said that, I feel like I am the 2nd coming of Norm Duke when it comes to tape lol. My thumb felt more snug than usual. I did the same thing with 3 other balls as well.Same thing bounce, bounce, bounce.AHHHHH

Video tape, look at it. You might find some insight. Try a little one step practice also. Smooth release and follow through don't worry about score or how many boards covered just a feel drill. It usually helps disengage the mind.

What I do for this with my highschool bowlers, is you put a towel out on the lane just over the foul line. You fold it in half to get about 4-5 inches of coverage down the lane. You then go ahead and bowl like normal throwing your shots over the towel. This will get the ball out very quickly. If you want to start slow just put it on the approach side of the line as a mental thing more than anything else.
Always be sincere, even when you don't mean it.

I appreciate the help.I usually loft the ball about 5-10 feet down the lanes already. I'll try anything and everything.I am bowling to get my team into the championships this weekend.I average about 215 but, I am just so puzzled. Thanks
