Free Arm Swing Training Method
« on: March 28, 2008, 02:31:29 AM »
ThongPrincess has asked me to share this tip here on the forums.  It is not a revolutionary idea, but it can be employed by just about anyone.

I've found that while uncomfortable, a full bladder is a great training aid in developing a free arm swing.  Sudden or jerky muscle movements are generally counter-productive to keeping your drawers clean and dry when your bladder is full.

It may seem silly, but it has helped.  Does anyone else use this technique or something similar to help develop a free arm swing?

i agree completely.  i won't use the bathroom until i absolutely have to.  it helps me focus and control my movements.  thats why i drink 2 beers before we start practice, to get my bowling fuel filled up.  lmao.

I do this in tournaments. I usually have to go about by the beginning of the 2nd game. I don't know if it helps but I've thrown more 300 games in 9pin when I had to pee then not..lol

From the number of libations I see consumed during league I believe it is a commonly practiced technique.I myself use the new Lanebostormammer bladder pack and rubber band to supply the pressure needed for a free arm swing. Now I need to work on the urge to squeeze my legs tightly together and my approach will be world class.

i think its more common than you think. lots of "newer" bowlers in our area will say "man i gotta take a _ _ _ _" and then you hear like 4 or 5 other people say, "hold it bro, fuel the fire" or something on that line.

I had the front nine tonight (second game), took a leak, and then came up light and left a wobbling 7-pin (righty). Add another 279 to my resume

Next time I'll risk pi55ing my knickers

Us old guys with BPH can not attempt this philosophy. I would wet my pants for sure. Especially when I consume a large Root Beer by the second game.

Thank goodness for indoor bathrooms.

I don't buy into that "full bladder" theory. Today I shot 181-188 the first two games, so I decided to pee between the second and third game and then went out and shot 245, so I did better on an empty bladder than a full bladder.

Perhaps you already have a free arm swing and don't need bladderistic help?
