House Shot Ball
« on: August 12, 2009, 03:57:25 PM »
Can anyone suggest a 2 ball combo for my upcoming mens league? I want 1-solid and 1-pearl. I bowl on wood lanes with light-heavy house shot. I throw 17-18 mph with decent revs, will probably go pin up on both but not sure yet. I'd prefer 2 balls from the same company line. thank you for commenting.

Definitely look into the new Roto Grip Nomads! I have two Nomad solids drilled and one pearl. I have a solid with pin above and right of my ring finger for skid/flip and one pin below and right of ring for an earlier midlane read and a little more oil. It also depends on the amount of oil you'll be bowling on. Storm has the Fast and the Furious that you could consider!

I like what bob said. To help with the Virtual Gravity I'd go with a Storm Fast or T-Road Pearl. This could be an option too, T-Road pearl and solid?

Fast and Furious would be an affordable combo and would probably cover most conditions with the proper adjustments.

My personal favorites are the Break S-75 and the Break Pearl from 900 Global, but I don't have what I would call "decent revs"...more like medium-low revs. Both are discontinued, but not hard to find.

If your conditions can handle strength, I would go with two Cells. A Pearl and the original or a Rogue. With proper layouts and surface prep, you will see the separation you want. IMHO, the Rogue is the strongest of the three. I don't believe there is a better core on the market than the Nucleus. It is very versatile, very forgiving, and hits very hard if used on the right condition. the coverstocks are all awesome and take adjustments well. Also, I have had little if any deterioration in performance with proper maintenance. I truly do not believe there is a better ball on the market than any of the Cells, and probably won't be for some time!

Any late 90's pearl/Solid Brunswick, Ebonite or Columbia combo, the house mouses wont laught when you just smashed them with a combo of Wolves, Bosses or Zones. Finding ones in good condition may be a bit difficult though

Fast and Furious
I have a Fast it is very clean through the front and very smooth downlane(atleast with the drilling I have on it, which is good for playing more up the boards). I don't have the Furious, but serveral that I have seen it is a very good ball for when a house shot is a little oilier than normal.

Depends on your style but if your looking for a medium type of ball chose a cover stock that is versatile on different types of house shots and has a symmetric core, not asymmetric.

How do the nomads compare to the fast/furious balls? Remember this will be for men's league house shots. thanks for answering my questions i appreciate it.
