How about the final track on the ball?
« on: January 18, 2016, 12:05:18 PM »
We always discuss the initial oil ring on the ball (determine PAP). What about that final track on the ball.

Is there such a thing for every individual ball?

Does a ball always reach that final tract after going through transition of hook to roll?

We talk about marking the PAP at the beginning, if we could determine the PAP on the last track and marked it on our ball, would it provide any kind of valuable information to a bowler as they are watching a ball go down the lane and to the pins?

Maybe this doesn't make sense. Just thinking of stuff.

The more important factor to me is the bow tie and it's stability...the tighter it stays the more controllable the over all reaction is...
The starting pap and finishing pap will be determined on diff...but from the testing I did on this while at Brunswick, it was more in regards to stability and over flaring...

I assume there are a few revolutions where the ball doesn't pick up much oil towards the end of the pattern...probably not seen on the surface of the ball

Yes, those are the dry flare rings. You just don't see the last flare rings because there is no oil on them.

What about spare ball or benchmark ball to determine the PAP....which one is best and why?

Any ball will work as long as you are able to get the pap off the bowlers hand...
