How common is this?
« on: September 05, 2014, 10:32:21 PM »
I was at the shop tonight and this local guy comes in with the Brute and Mastermind Intellect (blanks), nice looking balls by the way. Anyway, he comes to the shop often and just gets his thumb drilled and takes the ball elsewhere to get the fingers drilled.

Never heard of that.  Especially since once the thumb is drilled your finger holes only have one place to go. To each his own I suppose.

What he said above.  Unless the ball is already laid out prior to putting any hole(s) in it

Yes, he bowls with them. The balls are mapped when he arrives and my driller just drills the thumb and sends him on his way.

Maybe his other ball driller is a wizard at drilling fingerholes but not so much at thumb holes?

Are ball drillers going to become specialized like doctors in the medical field?

He takes them to the next suburb over to get his fingers drilled.

That's really weird...  Only thing I can think of is one guy charges 10 for a thumb..  The other guy charges 10 for the fingers..  So $20 for drilling..  Maybe both shops charge $45 for complete drill on blanks purchased elsewhere?
