How did you do in your state tournament?
« on: April 24, 2005, 05:07:59 AM »
Figured it would be cool to see how people did in the state tournament in their respective states. I bowled mine today- only doubles and singles as I couldn't pull together a team in time. Next time I will though, especially considering how well I bowled this year. States were held in Lowell, MA, a 44 lane synthetic center. Only problem I faced were the lower ball returns which made right side spares a challenge, but I made my way through it. Getting to the hole wasn't an issue, but it was more of an inside shot than outside. I played 13 out to 6 or 7 all day long on both pairs (29-30 for doubles, 31-32 for singles). Also was able to stick to the same ball for all 6 games- the Absolute Inferno. My scores:

Doubles: 197-237-243= 677 . I had 2 splits in game number one (4-6-7 in the 5th, 4-6-7-10 in the 10th). Those were my only opens for the day.

Singles: 247-218-247= 712. Got a little faster with my ball speed in game two and had some bucket leaves to convert. Clean set and I was happy to have 5 straight clean games.

I'm hoping that this will at least make me some form of money- as my doubles partner threw a 670 scratch which put us at 1347 scratch for doubles, 1481 with handicap.

Matt,

Nice shooting at states. I was supposed to go up next weekend but guess what...cant do it now!! I have to find a replacement for myself to bowl. With the wedding only 3 weeks away, things are kinda chaotic right now, know what I mean?!? Anyhow, great shooting again, hope you finally cash with those scores.

Good Luck

Not as good as I would've liked, but it got better once I got comfortable.
Day 1 Team event, I shot 169, 195, 199 for 563.

Day 2 Doubles/Singles, I shot 197, 180, 222 for 599, then 183, 208, 214 for 605.  I didn't start figuring out the oil was extremely short until the 180 game.  My last game of 214 couldve been a 230 had I not split in the tenth.  Them the breaks!

couldn't tell you...I decided to forego State until they remove the insipid handicrap.  They already had divisions but someone decided that they needed to add handicap within the past few years.  That same organization still also refuses to run a classic division...

My state was 2 weeks ago and I did pretty good as fas as I am concerned.  My average enterind was 175 and I ended up shooting singles 525, doubles 535, and team 551.  The last 2 years I went in with pretty much the same average and struggled to reach 450 for any set.  By the way, it was Nebraska State Tournament.  Next years state is held on my home lanes so it should be pretty exciting.

It does not matter what type of shot you throw, it's the results on the scoresheet that counts.

I did well. 2124 All Events. Was defending scratch Singles champ, shot 750 in Singles w/ a 203 first game. Currently in top 5 in AE and Singles. Doubles partner got rapped to death for 660, I had 690, not in top 15. Team shot 3340 on a spotty shot, not in top 10.

Bowled state tournament last weekend in Bloomington,Il.
Went in with a 201 average and shot singles 236,225,200 for a 601.

Doubles shot 201,149,201 for 551, switched balls after 2nd game
which in hind sight was way to late.

Team on Sunday shot 180,245,193 for 618.

All in all pretty happy considering the lanes were pretty scorched.
