Hello:

Several of my coworkers and I started a bowling league several years ago.  The name of the league is the name of our company.  I'm interested in asking my company for a monetary donation to our league, but I don't know how.  I found "request donation" letter templates and guidlines online, but they don't help me out because they are for different causes.  In most cases, the templates demonstrate how to tell the comany about yourself, what it is you are trying to do, and how that money can help your organization achieve that goal.  We just want the donation because we want more money in our prize fund.  That sounds shallow after reading some of the other letters I read online.  Have any of you ever asked for a donation?  I'm just trying to figure out what the best way to approach this would be.
