Cracked Bridge
« on: January 09, 2009, 11:47:01 AM »
I just bought a used ball that was not drilled for inserts.  I had my driller drill out the holes so I could put inserts in and after 3 games the bridge cracked.  My question is, should I immediately plug and redrill the fingers or is it ok to continue to use it till it cracks out more?

It's not that big of a deal, you'll probably get rid of the ball before it becomes an issue.

I'm guessing that your driller drastically reduced your bridge width when he drilled the holes out.  To do the job right you line the bit up with the inside edge of the hole and the pitches set to the pitches of the original hole.  I would have the fingers plugged and redrilled ASAP.  Talk to him about what he did, he may give you a discount on the work.  --  JohnP

We fix a lot of cracked bridges from other places.  Get it done soon before is spreads.  JohnP's right ask the driller what they did and it should not be a big deal to fix.
