i shot today and went thru all my balls and ended up throwing my power groove with decent success. But i am wondering what signs are there that will tell you when your ball is burning up and you should go to a weaker ball. Most of the time if i am bowling and the ball isnt recovering I go stronger, I think today i realized my error in judgement

a sign is when you hit the pocket and you leave like a 10 pin or 7 pin depending on what hand u throw it with if the 6/4 is laying in the gutter, its a pretty good sign that ball burned up and didnt hit hard. switch to a ball with a smoother/shinier surface or straightening up your angle can help your ball hit the pins with more power.

I can usually tell a ball is burning up if it gets a hook/set reaction. Usually if it's my Strike Zone it'll start to hook and then just roll out.

Flat tens, buckets, 2 pins, 7-10's are all signs of burn up/quit. Assuming you are right-handed.

Buckets can also be left if you throw the ball out too much and barely hit the head pin.

Sometimes a ball change isn't the answer. Just a line adjustment.

I agree with turbomanGT. Sometimes a line adjustment is the answer.

i would agree with the line adjustment except in the case of heavy oilers. It has been my experience that these balls wont recover well when i move left and try to give em room. Better imo to go to a weaker ball because 8 out of ten times if you need to move left it is much easier to do with the lesser surface ball. I went from my battle to my power groove in one game yesterday and the less agrggressive ball was the best choice. I shot 160 ,fishing and when i went to the groove shot 190 236 and the 190 game was with the last 5. I changed too late.Thinking that the oii was keeping my balls from moving and what it actually was was the lack of oil.

its kinda funny when you think about it. you buy the highpo balls to keep from leaving the flat tens and then you have to watch when you use em for just that reason.Give me a house ball and let me point it to the pocket, lol.
