How do you control your hook???

Hello all,
   As of late I must say that I am more than perplexed and frustrated.  I go to bowl and I see people throwing all this high end equipment and just shoot lights out with it.  But me on the other hand I bowl with the "cheaper" balls and can't keep the ball from hooking over the 1-3 pocket.  

   I have medium speed and I am guessing medium revs, but my balls always over react.  Case and point, I just bought the Storm Hot wire.  I got it drilled so it would have a nice smooth arc, I don't know all the specifics I'm not that knowledgable about drillings, anyways it does arc beautifully.  But I keep going over the headpin.  I tried the ball over the 15 and about out to the 8 and it went over the headpin, not a lot but enough to leave a split.  So I took off some revs added a little speed.  And about 3 times in a row it either left a 10 or 7 pin!!!  So then a guy on my team uses it and strikes every time.  HE throws faster and also has a different track than I.  I have been told that the way I throw the ball makes the ball hook earlier.  I track right beside the finge and thumb holes.  Is there a special drilling that I should get?  I just want a ball that I can throw normally(no cupped wrist or flattened wrist).  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like you need a solid Urathane.
Your resin is reacting to much.

Well what good urethanes are out there?  And I am thinking about polishing the hot wire but I am afraid that it won't hook at all.  And how do you like Visonary Livespive, well I guess you like it a lot you are a tester, but I have never seen one thrown.  You think they got something for me?  And I was also thinking that a pearl ball would do well for me, the Roro grip pearl was reccomended to me.

Adjust. Maybe you're not using the oil on the lane properly...

Also - for a lot of people, the harder they try to throw the ball, the harder they get on it - and of course, that makes the ball overreact.

Back off to a less aggressive hand position (straight vs cupped wrist, suitcase), and see what happens.

Mumzie,
   When I flattened out my wrist I just kept leaving 7's and 10's.  And I've tried everything from throwing up the boards to swinging it out to keeping a tight line across the middle, but I have had no luck.  I tried the sling blade yesterday and that is the first ball that I have thrown that hasn't over reacted, well that and the V2 dry.  But the sling blade needs pinpoint accuracy, it gives me no play.  And the V2 is great when the middle of the lanes are burnt when I am rolling on the sport shot.  But I need something that I can use on a house shot.  What do oyu guys think about me polishing the Hot wire?  And how do I do it?

I tend to agree with Mumzie.  Sounds like you are not making it to the proper break point and not playing the oil pattern correctly.  You may be coming off the oil too soon.  You might try moving your eyes/target and break point further down the lane. When you move into the oil the ball doesn't have enough to finish on the backend and leaves corners.  Sounds like the ball was not drilled for your game and the lane conditions.  It may not be the Pro Shop's fault.  People need to tell the shop what they want and be specific as possible. A good Pro Shop can tell you what the ball is suppose to do from the layout and watching you bowl.  They should also be able to make recommendations if the drill needs to be corrected and/or your game.

Don't buy a new ball.  Go back to the proshop and get a few lessons on lining up.  You say a teammate can make the ball strike.  You say you can hook the ball.  if you are good enough to repeat the shots then you must just have an alignment problem.  Go and take a lesson or two and you will be surprised at how well you can get your equipment to work.  Plus I am sure it is a lot cheaper than being a ball of the month club member.

Actually your pearl beast should be fine.  I think Doc is right.
IT is more technique than equipment.  At first I thought you had only resin.

I talked to my pro shop operator and I figured out some things while at the lanes.  The guy drilled the ball just like I wanted it and it does what I want it to.  The problem was my fingers were swollen making me have too much lift in the ball, and secondly my pro shop operator said that the way I was throwing the ball I was trying to cover too many boards and my ball was dying out.  It wasn't at all the oil.  I threw it today and shot a dissapointing 232 with it.  I said dissapointing because I threw the front 7 and then blew it.  But this ball works very well.  And livespive the beast is resin not urethane, it isn't one of the old ones, its the pearl one with MICA. But this brings me to another question, at the tornaments I bowl in I usually bowl 6 a day and my fingers swell as I go on, how do I keep this from effecting the amount of revs I put on the ball.
