OK, here's where I was going with this. When I first arrived on this board there was a lot of discussion about how to generate revs. One very knowledgeable member used the term "flat-spot", referring to the point at the bottom of the swing where the balls arc is parallel with the approach. Very few members seemed to have a clue about what he was referring to. My thesis was that more of the current members would have at least some understanding of the term now than did then. I believe I am correct, though it's inconclusive. My notion was that the current level of knowledge here is higher than it was 3 or 4 years ago when I arrived (no credit here, I've learned as much or more than any of you). If, in fact, we are not a "smarter" group than we were then, we at least think we are: rather than mutely passing this thread by a number felt obliged to reply; 3 years ago most would have either passed on by or chimed in that they too would like to know the answer.
I did notice another interesting phenomenon in this thread. What was the original question? I asked for, basically, an either/or response; you knew or you didn't. What I got was a number of replies expanding on various definitions of the term (all of which might be correct in given circumstances.) I guess human nature would explain this.
